The wine is dark, with lifted floral, cassis and vanilla aromas. It is rich on the palate, with savoury flavours of black cherry and black currant. Long ripe tannins give the wine a generous texture and a lingering, harmonious finish.

95 Points, John Schreiner

The Black Rook Merlot shows the rich, dark fruit character that comes from the Black Sage Bench region. There’s an impressive core of fruit that suggests the warmth of the site and calibre of the vintage, with impressive intensity and more rustic tannins than the more harmonious Opening Gambit Merlot.

91 Points, Christopher Waters
