Deep, rocky soils and old, gnarly vines (planted in 1973) combine to create a wine with floral, sub-tropical fruit, ginger, spiced pear and wet stone aromas. The palate mirrors the nose and transitions from a rich entry to a long mineral finish with signature wet stone notes.

Combret Vineyard

Southwest of the town of Oliver, this vineyard contains some of the oldest Chardonnay plantings in Canada. Located beneath Mt. Kobau and the Thompson Plateau, these vines are approaching 50 years of age. Of unknown origin, the vines are an extraordinarily distinctive Chardonnay clone named Dekleva in honour of the family who planted this vineyard.

The vineyard sits at 1266-1319 feet and has been painstakingly restored via precision agriculture. The result is an exciting chardonnay rich in florals, crème brûlée, and pineapple flecked with ginger, followed by pears, wet stone, and minerals.

The winery believes the vines producing this wine, planted in 1973, are the oldest Chardonnay vines in British Columbia. The wine benefits with a firm structure and with good length. There are aromas of mandarin orange which is echoed on the palate, along with hints of citrus and ginger.
