2020 Queen Taken Chardonnay

This wine is both expressive and vibrant, while demonstrating mineral restraint. The nose has essences of Asian pear, apricot and passionfruit with a touch of spice and white flower. The palate showcases ripe stone fruits with a rich savoury texture.

Dekleva Vineyard

Southwest of the town of Oliver, this vineyard contains some of the oldest Chardonnay plantings in Canada. Located beneath Mt. Kobau and the Thompson Plateau, these vines are approaching 50 years of age. Of unknown origin, the vines are an extraordinarily distinctive Chardonnay clone named Dekleva in honour of the family who planted this vineyard.

The fruit for this wine is from 45-year-old vines on the winery’s Dekleva Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench. The wine begins with aromas of peach, spice and vanilla. On the palate, there are flavours of citrus and stone fruit. The finish is rich and savoury.

95 Points, John Schreiner

Deep, rocky soils and old, gnarly vines (planted in 1973) combine to create a wine with florals, sub-tropical fruit, ginger, spiced pear, and wet stone aromas. The palate mirrors the nose and transitions from a rich entry to a long mineral finish with signature sticky stone notes.

93 Points, Anthony Gismondi

The first wave of aromas include peach Melba and salted butter. Then comes the tangy rhubarb tart scent that gets the mouth watering before the wine's acidity takes over. There's such an elegant, smooth mouthfeel, with lemon sorbet, salted cashew and animal cracker flavors that go on seemingly forever.
