2020 Little Pawn Chardonnay

Vibrant nose with hints of lychee, rosewater, melon and peach blossom. Flavours of key lime and stone fruits excite the senses. The rich palate is complexed by mineral, fennel and sea salt notes.

Jagged Rock Vineyard

Nestled in the Okanagan Highland foothills of the Black Sage Bench just southeast of Oliver, these Chardonnay blocks were planted in 1999 on a west-facing plateau to a mix of clone 76 and our heritage ‘Dekleva’ clone.

The soil is composed of sand and gravel formed by glacial activity. The porous nature of the soils limits the vigour of the vines, producing low-yielding grape clusters concentrated in flavour.

The consistency and the elegance of Little Pawn through recent vintages is astonishing. It begins with floral aromas with hints of marmalade. The wine manages to be bright and rich at the same time, with flavours of peach, apricot and orange. The finish is persistent.

100 Points, John Schreiner
