2018 Attack Chardonnay

Winemaking and ‘foudre’ (large oval cask) combine to create an alluring nose of the seaside, citrus, stone fruits and Indian spices. The palate is structured with signature elements of lychee, lemon pie, mandarin, cold tea, spice and seawater.

Begins with a fresh saline/seaside aroma and flavour that permeates the wine. The structure is fresh with a reductive/minerality note that adds a bit of tightness to a very pure fruited Chardonnay.

94 Points, Anthony Gismondi

This wine was fermented and aged in 1,600-litre foudres. It is one of CheckMate’s brightest, fruit-forward Chardonnays, intense on the palate with flavours of peach and citrus. The finish has great length.

97 Points, John Schreiner

There's a big hit of sweet wood up front, a lot of vanilla and a touch of coconut. Overall, however, this is a well-balanced and very elegant Chardonnay that is never overwhelmed by the wood impact.

92 Points, Robert Parker
